Following huge success of the debut album “Vertigo Quintet” (“Anděl Allianz” award of Academy of popular music in jazz & blues category, which is Czech equivalent of Grammy Awards) the members of this band rushed into furher projects. Without the presence of Vojtěch Procházka, who is currently studying in Paris, in collaboration with Beata (piano) and Patrik (el. guitar, leader) Hlavenka´s, new project called Vertigo – S´aight Connection was established. This band performed at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and placed among the first three in the competition “Under The Sky”. Vertigo – S´aight Connection was later renamed Open Sextet and Rich Perry (USA) and Ingrid Jensen (CAN) were invited to collaborate. In this formation they performed on several concerts.
New recording took place in summer of 2006 and album Vertigo Quintet – “Live U Staré Paní” (name of famous Czech jazz club), has seen the light of day. On several songs from this album stars Vladan Malinjak String Quartet and famous rock singer Lenka Dusilová as a special guest. This combination of different genres brings surprisingly compact album, that truly resembles unique atmosphere of live performance.
This record again was very successful, as evidenced not only by many positive articles in renowned magazines, newspapers and other media, but also by growing interest of jazz fans and general public of all generations.
The success and activity of this band inspired other Czech jazz musicians and added new energy to experiment in the field of author music.
