In these times, when money are the moving force of all things and almost every enterprise is motivated by it, our non-profit jazz music label was established as a project, in which the most important driving force is the virtu and love of music. The “profit’ as we see it, is especially in the possibility of capturing and promoting part of our culture, that is not fully in focus of the general public, yet musically surely belongs to the most interesting and dynamic branches of the music industry.
Publishing music is very costly in the Czech republic and the investment return is minimal, due to the fact, that music is spreading by illegal channels. This is the reason why we decided to address You to participate and support our projects.
Until quite recently jazz in the Czech republic was viewed more as a complicated and static genre, especially by the younger generations, despite the fact that our country is the birth place of several musicians of international significance. For the last decade or so, this situation was slowly but surely changing and jazz is steadily gaining popularity across the country and generations. Many music festivals were established which are orientated at jazz and alternative music and that is in our opinion the right step in the national education. Prague is famous for its jazz scene for many years and thanks to several enthusiasts, jazz music is now distributed in regions as well.
However, the financial background for the top Czech jazz musicians is way back behind the standards of European union and other modern economics. Professional jazz musicians, even if performing almost every day, rarely earn enough money by playing explicitly jazz and therefore are leaving to earn money abroad or to play commercial music. In other branches of music industry, for example in classical music, there are several financial resources and shielding organizations with established systems of financing. In case of jazz, this support is minimal and no such organizations exist. Financial support from private and corporate sectors are also exceptional and patronage is very rare phenomenon in our country.
Our label is trying to improve the position of jazz in Czech republic. All our projects are financed from our own resources or with help of grants and sponsors. These resources are rarely sufficient, therefore we seek the help of people and companies, who are not indifferent to the fate of jazz and alternative scene in Czech republic. Simply the more money we find the more projects we can execute, whereas all money, that we gather up are used entirely for the labels activities.
You can participate as an one time donor or you can sponsor us on more regular basis. You can finance particulate projects or you can also become the general partner of our label. The rate of contribution is of course entirely up to you. Your logo will be placed on the record, promotional materials and web pages, if you would wish so. We are grateful for all the donations, because gives the jazz artists the opportunity to move forward.
We also offer various types of collaboration, e.g. original musical logos, key signatures, music for the web pages and so on…
