Jan Jirucha sr.
Singer and trombonist, who has been active on Czech Jazz scene since the mid 70´s of the last century. He has starred mainly in classical jazz and swing ensembles. With them he has been to many significant festivals in Holland, several times attended the Dixi festival in Dresden (Germany), Jazz Days in Hannover etc. In the 1993 he established his own band the J.J.Jazzmen and orientates himself mainly on music produced by the trumpet player and singer Louis Armstrong, whose voice construes successfully. In the 2001 he and his band were selected to appear at the Jazz & Heritage festival in New Orleans, where he enjoyed huge success. Within the next few years he has stared not only in Czech Republic, but also all over Europe and he has been invited to renowned festivals in Birmingham (England), New Orleans Fest in Ascone (Switzerland), Brunice (Italy), Nice (France), etc. To our great regret he died in 2005.
